DEALING WITH DISAPPOINTMENT

To say that life is a rollercoaster is an understatement. Bad things happen. Bad things happen to good people. And bad things will happen to you. Disappointment and grief are part of life and many good men have succumbed to the dips of the proverbial rollercoaster. So the next time you’re feeling down, remember these things.

TAKE TIME TO BE INTROSPECTIVE

You’re not perfect. And understanding that you aren’t perfect is the first step to happiness. You are a human being and simply because of that you are prone to mistakes; it is how you deal with your mistakes that’s important. The next time something disappoints you, isolate the incident and write down what circumstances you could have changed to make you feel better. Dealing with disappoint is a matter of perspective.

BET ON YOURSELF AND YOUR POTENTIAL

Your company might not think you’re valuable enough. The girl you like may think you’re not good enough. The interviewers may think you’re not suitable enough. Forget what the haters of the world think and say about you. Bet on yourself. You’re still breathing, you’re still thinking, so all you need to do now is work your way out of a bad situation. The company doesn’t value you? Find one that does. The girl doesn’t think you’re good enough? Brush her off. The interviewers don’t think you’re a good match? Make them eat their words. Your effort is yours alone and you can do it. Life is a numbers game, the more you try the more you may fail, but you will adapt and win out eventually. Bet on yourself.

KEEP YOUR PERSPECTIVE

Take some time for yourself and think about what makes you happy. What is it that you want in life? What is it that you want for your life? Once you decide on what it is, work towards it the best you can. The thing about dreams is this: nobody can take them away from you. So decide on what makes you happy, and keep your perspective.
