Guys will want to decorate their bachelor pad with their own sense of style and aesthetic, this is all well and good and only adds flavor to one’s personality. But no matter the creativity and personal expression, every guy must have these essential items in their bachelor pad.
A dimmable light – I can’t stress this enough, it is imperative that you have at least one lamp or light fixture that can be dimmed. Lighting is the best way to set the mood you’re looking for. If you want someone to stay and relax, dim the lights a bit and pour out some wine. Had enough of the person? Crank the lights on really bright; they’ll get the hint.
Fresh towels – because you never know when you will have guests over, and when you have guests over, you want them to feel as comfortable as possible. Purchase a few nice white towels and place a few dryer sheets between them. This will give the towels a fresh, just-out-of-the-laundry scent that is sure to impress.
High quality hand soap – I suppose you don’t always need to use quality hand soap everyday, but make sure you have some handy (pun intended) when guests come over. This subtle item will lift the whole experience up a notch.
Fresh linens – keep the colors neutral and change them often. Don’t overdo it with prints; a guy’s linens should be beige, navy blue, white, black, or shades of gray as these colors are easy on the eye. Also, change them often so they don’t smell of your drool.
An R&B play list – create a play list with nostalgic songs that reflect a time of adolescence. I was born in the 80s so I always throw in some Boyz II Men and Usher into my mixes. Make sure that when you’re compiling your play list that you’re thoughtful and sentimental, remember the emotion you are trying to achieve. As in addition to lighting, music makes people feel a certain way, and you being prepared for that, places you in the driving seat.
